What inspired you to get involved in Cannabis Cuisine?
Sous Weed began as a passion project to document my cannabis edibles using the sous vide method. The interest first came from the need for pain management when I herniated a disc. The doctor had me on a cocktail of pills that I did not react well to, so I made the switch to cannabis. It was a game changer for me. With the sous vide method, it was able to make healthy edibles and to customize the dosage to my needs.
What is your favorite way to enjoy Cannabis? Edibles, of course! I also enjoy the ritual of rolling a joint at the end of a long work day.
What are your favorite food pairings for Cannabis? I love a good savory edible! I always have infused chili oil on hand to go on dumplings, noodles, and rice dishes. Check out sousweed.com for more recipes!
What is your stance on racial inequality in the cannabis industry? For decades, Black and Brown communities have been negatively impacted by the unjust war on drugs. With cannabis legalization, the same communities have encountered numerous obstacles entering the industry they created. I believe cannabis companies are responsible for ensuring equity for these communities. And for consumers who are going to buy cannabis, it’s important to buy thoughtfully. InclusiveBase.com is a great database featuring BIPOC-owned cannabis companies for the conscious cannabis consumer.
Spicy Ginger Fizz
This refreshing daytime beverage contains 10mg THC/1mg CBD per serving (4).
Ingredients: • 3/4 cup ginger, peeled and minced • 1 cup granulated sugar • 1 1/4 cup water • 3 red jalapeños • 2 droppers (2 ml) OM Edibles Extra Strength Daytime Elixir • Ice • Soda water
Directions: 1. In a medium saucepan, bring ginger, sugar, and water to a simmer over medium-low heat. Stir until sugar has dissolved. Cover, reduce heat, and allow to simmer on low for 10 minutes. 2. While the syrup is simmering, char the jalapeños by turning on your gas stove flame on medium. Using tongs, hold the pepper over the flame for a minute on each side, until the skin chars and blisters. Deseed the peppers and place into the ginger syrup to infuse. 3. After 10 minutes, remove the ginger-chili syrup from heat; cover and steep for 1 hour. 4. Transfer the ginger and chili syrup into a blender or food processor and blend until uniform. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the finished syrup into a container. To serve: Add 3-4 Tbsp of ginger-chili syrup into a highball filled with ice and 1/2 ML (or 1/2 a dropper) of OM Edibles Extra Strength Daytime Elixir, which makes this drink 10mg of THC per serving. Feel free to add more or less as desired. Stir well and top with soda water.
